Important milestone, 150 foundations installed

Last weekend, Gemini Wind Park has achieved perhaps its most important milestone so far: all 150 transition pieces have been installed at sea. This means that the foundation of the Wind Park is in place.

This first phase of the project has been completed in a timeframe that exceeded all expectations. On July 1st 2015, the installation process of the transition pieces began. Only three and a half months later, everything is in place.

Gemini Wind Park CEO Matthias Haag, rightfully stated: β€œIn a project of this size planning is crucial. That we are ahead of schedule is in my opinion mostly due to the good collaboration with our partners, HVC, Siemens, Northland Power International and Van Oord, with Van Oord mainly responsible for this building phase.”

The 100 infield cables that will eventually connect all the turbines will be also be placed this year. Then the project will be halted until the beginning of 2016 due to the mandatory stop because of weather and environmental considerations.

Next year the placing of the turbines will start. The turbines will arrive from Denmark, where they are currently being built. The turbines are expected to be brought to their place in the Wind Park in the first quarter of 2016.
